Russian Company of Navigation and Trade
The Russian Company of Navigation and Trade applied
a private overprint to issues of 1900-1910
of Russian post offices in the Turkish Empire.
Established in 1856 in Odessa, The Russian Steam Navigation and Trading Company was one of the biggest joint stock steamship companies in Imperial Russia. It was established in 1856 and by 1901 it had a fleet of seventy-two steamships. From 1863 to 1914 the company operated all Russian post offices in the Ottoman Empire. The company was nationalized after the revolution in Russia in 1918.
