Quetzal Definitive Designs of 1881

Guatemala issued its first stamps on March 1, 1871. They featured the national coat of arms. Issues of 1875 and 1878 featured "Liberty" and an "Indian Woman". The national bird, the quetzal, was first featured on the definitive of 1879. It has been featured on many subsequent issues including the issue of 1881 pictured above.
