First Stamps Issued in 1992

stamp
These are Turkmenistan's first stamps issued in 1992.

Although it became independent on October 27, 1991, Turkmenistan did not issue its first stamps until the following year. The designs on the first issue included a 19th century gold and jewelled bib, a girl in traditional dress with the Kopet-Daga Mountains in the background, the Mollanepes Drama Theatre in Ashkhabad, the national coat of arms and President Saparmyrat Niyazov and a reversed image of the national flag. The design featuring the flag and the portrait of the president was reissued with a reversed design to celebrate the first anniversary of national independence.
