Pictorial Definitives of 1964
The stamps reproduced above depict Sheik Hamad bin Mohammed al Sharqi with an Arabian oryx
a hoopoe, a wild ass, herons in flight, Arabian horses, a leopard, camels and hawks.
Now part of the United Arab Emirates, Fujeira was recognized as an independendent state in 1952 and began issuing its own stamps on September 22, 1964. Many speculative issues intended for the philatelic market were issued before the stamps of the United Arab Emirates were adopted on August 1, 1972.
