First Airmail Flight Cover
Toronto - New York

Avro Jetliner Cover

The AVRO Jetliner was the first North American commercial jetliner. This commemorative cover marks the Canadian Post Office's first official airmail between Toronto and New York carried on April 18, 1950. As the inscription on the commemorative postcard indicates, the introduction of jet service reduced the flight time by about half. The cover is franked with Canada's seven cent airmail definitive issued on September 16, 1946. This was Canada's last "airmail issue".
