Emergency Field Message Overprints
Algerian definitives of 1936 surcharged and overprinted E.F.M.
In 1943 the Algerian 5 centime red violet and the 1.75 franc henna brown definitives showing a view of Ghardaia were surcharged 30 frs and overprinted "E.F.M." (Emergency Field Message) to be used to pay cable tolls for American and Canadian military personnel.
