Apollo


 

Apollo is the sun god and also the god of music and song which are heard during times when light triumphs over darkness. He is associated with youth and strength. The physical aspect of Apollo is also known as Helios or Hyperion.


Apollo is portrayed throwing a discus in this stamp issued in March 1906 celebrating the tenth anniversary of the modern Olympic Games.
